The Louie Palu
Collection
While working on the Cage Call project Louie was awarded a history research grant
from the Ontario Heritage Foundation to document historically significant mine
sites that were being demolished. Working with long time writing partner Charlie
Angus, the two traveled throughout northwestern Ontario and northeastern Quebec
documenting the visual and oral histories of the mines. The fieldwork resulted
in a published bilingual catalogue titled Industrial Cathedrals of the North.
The Library and Archives of Canada deemed the work of national significance and
acquired 50 prints for the permanent collection at the Archives.
