Canadian Rangers patrol and explore through an extremely rare outcrop of brush that have tree branches North of the tree line on an island North of the Inuit Hamlet of Naujaat, Nunavut. There are hundreds of islands in the Canadian Arctic some of which have never had any human activity. Trees rarely grow past the Arctic Circle in Canada where the permafrost prevents roots from growing deep enough into the ground and the months of darkness in every winter. The melting permafrost may change the landscape of the Polar region in many ways including what can and cannot grow.
