US Army soldiers from Fort Wainwright and Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson training how to use snowshoes and conduct combat operations at the Northern Warfare Training Center, in Black Rapids, Alaska. During the course soldiers here train in ski, snowshoe and survive in extreme cold weather some of which is based on lessons learned from the Winter War between Finland and Russia in the Second World War.
