The closed Turner and Newall asbestos plant in Rochdale, England seen through a fence. This was the largest asbestos product manufacturing plant in the world which is only a few miles from Manchester. This plant was owned and operated by the now defunct company Turner and Newall (T & N). The history of this plant and Turner and Newall are forever tied to the deaths of numerous workers by disease from exposure to asbestos. The other important fact to note is that this plant used chrysotile asbestos from the mines in Quebec, Canada.
